Voices of the Books
Album Voices of the Books assembles three cycles of electroacoustic compositions arising in the years 2005 and 2006 for the unrealized project of sonic magazine Bibliomania, which responded to the rich lecture and publishing activities carried out around a conceptual magazine Zvadlé listy (Wilted leaves). Despite of recording a few vocal interpretations (by S.d.Ch.) of a few (mostly symbolist) poems, the project hadn’t been finished eventually (like many similar – technically fastidious - attempts of combining different art forms by the ensemble).
Newly released songs are trying to create the illusion of speech of the book volumes or different forms of written advice. The widest collection „Books From the Garret“ let speak the volumes forgotten for years in the attics of houses, moldy and musty, but (or so) rich by the mystery of un-read dispatch. In Secret Messages the voices of the almost unreadable lines of urgent illegal messages from the prisons, dangerously uttered and read always with trepidation and apprehension, speak with its bleak words. The album closes with the only song of the last "cycle" Logbook, inspired by the original literary and book genre. Its pages are wet by the water and smell by the road that their writer has passed.
Almost all of the compositions are short thumbnails, strongly concentrated to one particular – ideal – experience, roughly in the vision of excited, biased reading, or rather physical, sensory contact with the book, the reciprocity link of the specific volume with his reader. The success of our attempt, you can judge now; all the songs have released in this edition for the first time.

Hlasy knih shromažďují tři cykly elektroakustických kompozic vzniklé v letech 2005 až 2006 pro nerealizovaný projekt akustického časopisu Bibliomania, který reagoval na bohatou přednáškovou a nakladatelskou činnost realizovanou okolo konceptuálního časopisu Zvadlé listy. Přestože vzniklo i několik nahrávek interpretací různých (vesměs symbolistních) básní (namluvených S.d.Ch.), nebyl nakonec projekt dokončen, natož šířen – podobně jako řada podobných pokusů spojit různé umělecké formy (např. kolorování promítaných černobílých reprodukcí hudbou s cílem evokovat dobovou představivost diváků neznalých barevných originálů apod.).
Nyní vydávané skladby se pokouší navodit iluzi řeči knižních svazků, resp. různých forem písemného sdělení. Nejširší kolekce Sneseno z půdy nechává promlouvat svazky po léta zapomenuté na půdách domů, plesnivé a zatuchlé, a přesto (či proto) bohaté tajemstvím nečteného poselství. Vedle vlastní zkušenosti k jejich natočení inspirovala i uchvacující dětská četba čítankové ukázky z eseje Františka Hrubína o Heinrichu Heinem, líčícím podobné okouzlení, zesílené účinkem starého, archaického jazyka dávných překladů Heinovy poezie. V Motácích promlouvají hlasy téměř nečitelných řádků naléhavých zpráv z věznic, neútěšných promluv, nebezpečně pronášených a čtených bezvýlučně s rozechvěním a obavami. Album uzavírá jediná skladba posledního „cyklu“ Lodní deník, inspirovaná rovněž originálním slovesným a knižním žánrem.

Recordings On the Road Czech Republic

Collective publishing project of a few kindred musicians, flowing outside (on periphery or in underground) the Czech music happening and mostly devoted themselves to alternative rock or avantgarde music. Stylistically diverse is united by a similar attitude to music perceived not as a medium, but as the way, autonomous and eminently participating on our lives, on our road. ... more
