New album of avant-garde ensemble Abbé Brémond Ensemble completes its more than fifteen-year “research” of the sounding of Prague. At the earliest period it was preceded by various site specific performances (especially in the city's left-bank suburbs) and later by the recordings that focused mainly on the interiors and evoked the voices, breath and atmosphere of various buildings, especially the devastated and ancient ones (Wedding Opera in Villa Turbová, Clausura and Trója). Ocean attempts to synthesize various exterior environments, bringing the city's overall atmosphere closer. Scraps of overheard dialogues, laughter, screaming, crying, tree whisper, bird voices, dog barking, the sound of footsteps, music of buskers, the noise of the engines and the drone of the Vltava River, and much more, co-create the breath of Prague. The air is rippling, both shrining and expanding, getting warmer and cooler as well, dries and refreshes as well, and above all it sounds.
As the previous albums, this one is not just a compilation of various current field recordings. The composition attempts to capture the sounding of Prague in a diachronous way, trying to overhear the remains of the local primeval oceanic atmosphere, thus it is returning to the days when Prague was the bottom of the ocean, or more precisely: bringing the ocean to its today’s streets. This analogy provided the key to the choice of large collection of field recordings made over the past three years - on the streets, squares or parks, both in the daytime and at night, as well as their composition and stylization. The other sound elements, the diverse musical layers, involved in it, reveal the weight of the living and sounding air – and its depth as well. The movements that this music evokes are more like diving, swimming and sailing than running, walking or riding, and the breath resembles drinking.
The simile of air and water, the ozonosphere and the hydrosphere, at the same time makes their common life-giving and habitability present and shows their unity in the biosphere. Both, breathing together, rippling each other, sound together too. This unison, though monotonous in deep fertile peace, surprises with infinite variety at moments when these worlds are revived - especially by new love, new life. At that time, even the Babylonian incomprehensibility of passing foreigners changes and becomes clear and a new, generally understandable language arises. Welcome to Prague. Dive into the Ocean.

Nové album avantgardního souboru Abbé Brémond Ensemble završuje jeho více než patnáctiletý „výzkum“ znění Prahy. V nejranější fázi mu předcházely různé site specific performance (zvláště v levobřežním extravilánu města) a později i nahrávky, které se soustředily především na tamní interiéry a evokovaly hlasy, dech a atmosféru různých budov, především těch devastovaných a starodávných, vzrušujících svou pamětí, Svatební opera ve vile Turbová, Clausura a Trója. Oceán se pokouší syntetizovat různá venkovní prostředí, a přiblížit tak celkovou atmosféru tohoto města. Útržky zaslechnutých dialogů, smích, křik, pláč, šumění stromů, ptačí hlasy, psí štěkot, zvuk kroků, hudba pouličních hráčů, hluk motorů a hukot Vltavy a mnoho dalšího spoluutváří dech Prahy. Vzduch se vlní, smršťuje a rozpíná, teplá a chladne, vysušuje i osvěžuje a především zní.
Podobně jako na těch předešlých albech nejde ani na tomto o pouhou kompilaci různých aktuálních záznamů. Kompozice se snaží zachytit znění Prahy diachronně, zaslechnout v něm zbytky pravěké oceánské atmosféry, tedy se vrací do časů, kdy byla Praha dnem oceánu, či přesněji: přináší oceán do jejích dnešních ulic. Tato analogie poskytla klíč k výběru z terénních nahrávek pořízených v uplynulých třech letech – na ulicích, náměstích či v parcích, ve dne i v noci, i k jejich skladbě a stylizaci. Další zvukové prvky, rozmanité hudební vrstvy, které se na ní podílejí, odhalují v živém a znějícím vzduchu – spolu s jeho hmotností – i jeho hloubku. Pohyb, který pak tato hudba evokuje, se podobá více noření a plutí než běhu a chůzi, a dech připomíná pití.
Příměr vzduchu a vody, ozonosféry a hydrosféry, současně zpřítomňuje jejich společnou životodárnost i obyvatelnost a znázorňuje jejich jednotu v biosféře. Oba, vespolně dýchající, vzájemně se čeřící, spolu také znějí. Tento souzvuk, ač monotónní v hlubinném plodném klidu, překvapuje nekonečnou pestrostí v okamžicích, kdy se tyto světy obrozují – zvláště novou láskou, novým životem. Tehdy se i babylonská nesrozumitelnost míjejících se cizinců projasní a povstává nová, všeobecně srozumitelná řeč. Vítejte v Praze. Ponořte se do Oceánu.
