The album Waves of Radok brings six electroacoustic compositions inspired by the voice of the Czech theater and film director Alfréd Radok (1914-1976).

Radok was an artist of extraordinary imagination and emotion. His works testify to the extraordinarily developed ability to perceive the world in its entirety and to the will to recreate it with one's own work, which can lead the viewer to independent knowledge, and even encourage him to constant perceptive understanding. And his voice had been enchanting with the way how various emotional positions were flowing in it (and with it) fluently: a wide, colorful landscape seemed to grow on the waves of his short narrating.

Artist’s gift and my joy of its revelation encouraged me to try to use my field recordings of the 1966 radio show "Alone at Home with the Music I Love", in which Radok talked about his favorite musical works, songs and artists, in several compositions in which I would evoke this profound nature of the artist's personality. My starting point was the idea of Radok, who emigrated to Sweden after the August occupation of 1968, standing on the shores of the Baltic Sea, listening to its waves and recalling in their sounding the tunes he associates with his life so far - and especially with his home. The voices of the ocean waves thus combine with the waves within the man himself, so much so that they cannot be distinguished from each other. And then he also becomes the sea and everything that waves around, waves in and out of it.

Album Waves of Radok přináší šest elektroakustických kompozic inspirovaných hlasem českého divadelního a filmového režiséra Alfréda Radoka (1914–1976).

A tehdy se i on stává mořem a to všechno, co kolem vlní, vlní i v něm a z něj.

Bio:
Abbé Brémond Ensemble
Avant-garde chamber orchestra dedicated to Henri Bremond’s idea of pure poetry and founded by Ká in 2003 in Prague as the collective creative space forming context for various musical, art and literary works. Main programme was formulated as "poésie pure – free improvisation – site specific – ambient – noisilence – land(e)scapes". Between the years 2003 and 2007 ABE published (mostly in private editions) ten records (with Ká's solo electro-acoustic compositions, vocal and orchestral works, free improvisations etc.) and performed a few site specific actions and private concerts. Most of these projects were inspired by individual literary works (Sylvia Plath, Tove Jansson, Andrej Stankovič, Paul Laforgue, Čingiz Ajtmatov, Josef Váchal). In 2007 the ensemble abandoned its pursuit and came back in 2014. With new inspiration of ideas of Elias Canetti and his esthetics of metamorphosis and his cult of atmosphere the ensemble found new aims and turned more to Life and Love and Nature. All the previous work of ABE was republished on Recordings On the Road and new records are releasing on it too.

Collective publishing project of a few kindred musicians, flowing outside (on periphery or in underground) the Czech music happening and mostly devoted themselves to alternative rock or avantgarde music. Stylistically diverse is united by a similar attitude to music perceived not as a medium, but as the way, autonomous and eminently participating on our lives, on our road. ... more
