In Friendly Greetings from Pre-War Bohemia, I collect my latest compositions based on field recordings from the foreland of Bohemian Forest. In them I react to the depressing atmosphere of this state, even the whole world, breaking with indifference, irresponsibility and animosity to solidarity. With anxiety about an upcoming war conflict I have been settling for about a year, and despite some more peaceful whiles it doesn’t weaken. I address these Greetings to my distant friends to whom I commend - with my songs - this experience. The musical composition replaces the letter here, but not the spoken word, the conversation, or even the world: on the contrary I open myself with my song to it more consistently. The recording act itself allows me to understand the nature and Life more deeply, to accept - at least temporarily - its rhythm – and to chime in it. Then the composing corresponds to the memory; but it does not reconstruct the past but creates a new, intimate world marked by the above-mentioned distress.
Compared to the previous album Das kleine Märchenbuch, I entirely ruled out radio recordings, but not the recordings from interiors. In the introduced pre-war context the broadcast gathers a deeper sense, and the contemporary one is far from fulfilling it. In order to fulfill the importance of radio transmission, the recordings of news, memories of witnesses, live broadcasts of concerts or current events would not satisfy me. The awareness of the threat does not vibrate today's shallow radio broadcast; there’s dissatisfaction with the circumstances at most. But the restlessness in the interior reveals the fatal permeability of the walls and the simple stay in the old house does not defend.
So I invite a kind listener to stay in more intimate environment than on the previous two albums, and I believe that the time spent in this twilight will illuminate his day with another light.

V Přátelských pozdravech z předválečných Čech soustřeďuji své nejnovější skladby, založené na terénních nahrávkách z Pošumaví. Reaguji v nich na skličující atmosféru této země, ba i celého světa, tříštícího se nevůlí k pospolitosti, lhostejností a nezodpovědností. S obavami z nadcházejícího válečného konfliktu se vyrovnávám již zhruba rok a přes některé klidnější chvíle nepolevují. Pozdravy adresuji svým vzdáleným přátelům, jimž se svými skladbami svěřuji s touto zkušeností. Hudební kompozice mi zde nahrazuje dopis, ale nikoliv vyslovené slovo, rozhovor, natož pak svět: tomu se jí naopak důsledněji otevírám. Sám akt nahrávání mi umožňuje hlouběji porozumět přírodě, alespoň dočasně přijmout její rytmus – a souznít. Komponování pak odpovídá vzpomínce; nad ni však minulost nerekonstruuje, ale utváří nový, intimní svět, poznamenaný výše přiznanou tísní.
Oproti předešlému albu jsem zcela vyloučil rádiové nahrávky, ne však znění interiérů. V představených předválečných souvislostech zákonitě nabývá rozhlas hlubšího smyslu, a ten dnešní ho zdaleka nenaplňuje. Abych mohl dostát významu rozhlasového přenosu, nepostačil by mi ani záznam zpravodajství, vzpomínek pamětníků, přímé přenosy koncertů nebo současného dění. Dnešní mělké rozhlasové vysílání nerozechvívá vědomí hrozby, nanejvýš nespokojenost s poměry, a to je málo. Zato neklid v interiéru prozrazuje osudovou prostupnost stěn a prostý pobyt ve starém domě nečiní existenci v čase bezpečnou.
Zvu tedy laskavého posluchače k pobytu v ještě důvěrnějším prostředí než na předešlých dvou albech a věřím, že chvíle strávené v tomto soumraku mu jeho dny osvětlí jiným světlem.
