Abbé Brémond Ensemble has been connected with Prague since its beginnings. Already in the first years of its existence, it used to organize site-specific performances in various remote or more remote Prague exteriors, and it was inspired by some other places in its studio work as well. Starting with the album Wedding Opera in villa Turbová, the group also dealt with the atmosphere of different places. While the aforementioned album dedicated to a dilapidated villa in Košíře was purely a studio recording and rather brought a dream about the possible sounding of the place in the hours of a fictitious wedding, the following albums (Clausura, Trója, Oceán) were already based on field recordings and tried to independently interpret the atmosphere of specific locations.
The current album also brings such a composition, which tries to present the sounding of the star-studded summer house in the park in Liboc. It is based on an extensive recording of the local silence, which it envolves with a musical track, thus creating an ambivalent meditative study torn between dream and reality. Seemingly minimalistic sound reflections and fragments of melodies reveal, standing motionless in the middle of the massive walls, a movement shivered by the contact of the visitor and the place itself. Attentive listening, or even contemplation of the two resonating voices then directly introduces the listener to this simultaneously earthly and heavenly, even stellar world... The journey to the stars reveals itself as a descent into sleep, in which silence merges with a lingering melody and expands into an unexpected polyphony.

Zdánlivě minimalistické zvukové odrazy a zlomky melodií odhalují v nehybnu uprostřed masivních zdí pohyb rozechvěný kontaktem návštěvníka místa samého. Pozorný poslech, ba kontemplace dvou rezonujících hlasů pak posluchače přímo uvádí do tohoto světa současně pozemského i nebeského, ba stelárního…

Bio:
Abbé Brémond Ensemble
Avant-garde chamber orchestra dedicated to Henri Bremond’s idea of pure poetry and founded by Ká in 2003 in Prague as the collective creative space forming context for various musical, art and literary works. Main programme was formulated as "poésie pure – free improvisation – site specific – ambient – noisilence – land(e)scapes". Between the years 2003 and 2007 ABE published (mostly in private editions) ten records (with Ká's solo electro-acoustic compositions, vocal and orchestral works, free improvisations etc.) and performed a few site specific actions and private concerts. Most of these projects were inspired by individual literary works (Sylvia Plath, Tove Jansson, Andrej Stankovič, Paul Laforgue, Čingiz Ajtmatov, Josef Váchal). In 2007 the ensemble abandoned its pursuit and came back in 2014. With new inspiration of ideas of Elias Canetti and his esthetics of metamorphosis and his cult of atmosphere the ensemble found new aims and turned more to Life and Love and Nature. All the previous work of ABE was republished on Recordings On the Road and new records are releasing on it too.
